Promoting Psychological Wellbeing

Andrea Georgi BSc (Hons) Registered Member MBACP (Accred).

ONLINE ONLY

I am an Integrative Counsellor and specialise in depression, stress, anxiety, relationships and bereavement along with many other presenting issues. I offer short term and long term therapeutic services. Research has shown that the talking therapies are beneficial to all individuals whether young or old. When you feel that you can’t work out emotional problems alone and you are experiencing difficult life events, it is sometimes easier talking to a stranger. As a fully professional trained counsellor, I am able to help you explore the issues, find your own answers and recognise choices that are available to you. Many of my clients have difficulties in coping with daily activities but through our work together, they find the support that I am able to offer them helpful and extremely beneficial. Significant life events impact on personal wellbeing, counselling can provide understanding, clarity and coping strategies to see you through these difficult times. I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for my clients and this promotes the development of a trustful and respectful relationship. I realise that meeting face to face can be very difficult for some clients and therefore, I also provide online Skype counselling, please call me for more information. I am committed to the excellent care and the health and wellbeing of my clients.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a unique treatment which aims to challenge and focus on the 'self.' Experiences in the past and the here and now are shared with a professional person that has the ability to listen at a deep level and who can support you in the process of therapy. Clients can speak freely about their feelings, lives, fears, wishes, trauma, losses and beliefs in a confidential setting, getting to know and understand their inner world. It is about understanding your problems and learning to manage them with less fear. When a greater awareness is achieved then there is an opportunity to break any undesirable patterns in behaviour which can result in a sense of meaning and enhance life satisfaction.

What happens in the first session?

There is an informal assessment. I will ask you to begin by telling me the issues that have brought you to counselling. I know it can be a very daunting time to meet a counsellor for the first time but I will try to make you as comfortable as possible. We are just two people that have come together in a therapeutic setting, an opportunity for you to tell me your story. I may ask you some questions but these will be minimal. If you feel that you would like to continue with the sessions then we can meet at a mutually agreed day and time.
